Hymn Lyrics:
NCH 253: “Yours Is the Glory, Resurrected One!” Text: Edmond L. Budry, 1904, trans. New Century Hymnal, 1993; Tune: “Judas Maccabeus,” G. F. Handel, 1751.
v. 1: Yours is the glory, Resurrected One! Endless is the victory, you o’er death have won. Angels clothed in radiance rolled the stone away; conquered is the grave in which your body lay. Yours is the glory, Resurrected One! Endless is the victory, you o’er death have won.
v. 2: See, it is Jesus, Jesus has appeared; do not doubt at all, for nothing you will fear. Let the church with gladness hymns of triump sing; tell it without ceasing: Death has lost its sting. Yours is the glory, Resurrected One! Endless is the victory, you o’er death have won.
v. 3: Am I still frightened? One whom I adore, Jesus, lives again, gives peace forevermore. Jesus is my victory, life and strength and Head; Jesus is my glory, nothing shall I dread. Yours is the glory, Resurrected One! Endless is the victory, you o’er death have won.
NCH 251: “I Greet You, Sure Redeemer,” Text: Anon., from Strasbourg Psalter, ed. John Calvin, 1545, trans. Elizabeth L. Smart, 1868, altered; Tune: “Toulon,” adap from “Old 124th,” Trente quatre Pseaumes, Geneva, 1551.
v. 2: You are the source of mercy and of grace, reigning omnipotent in every place; so rule in us and our whole being sway. Shine on us with the light of your pure day.
v. 3: You are the life, by which alone we live, and all our substance and our strength receive. Sustain us by your faith and by your power, and give us faith in every trying hour.
v. 4: You have the true and perfect gentleness, no harshness have you and no bitterness; grant us the grace that flows in you so free that we may dwell in perfect unity.
v. 5: Our hope is all in you and you alone; we trust the promise that your word makes known. O dear redeemer, make us calm and sure, that in your strength we evermore endure.
