Song Lyrics:
SPaP 22: “Come All You People,” Words: Alexander Gondo, Eng. paraphrase: I-to Loh; Music: Alexander Gondo, notated by I-to Loh, 1986. Arr. John L. Bell, 1994.
v. 1: Come, all you people, come and praise the Most High. Come, all you people, come and praise the Most High. Come, all you people, come and praise the Most High. Come now, and worship our God.
v. 2: Come, all you people, come and praise the Savior. Come, all you people, come and praise the Savior. Come, all you people, come and praise the Savior. Come now, and worship our God.
v. 3: Come, all you people, come and praise the Spirit. Come, all you people, come and praise the Spirit. Come, all you people, come and praise the Spirit. Come now, and worship our God.
NCH 554: “Out of the Depths, O God, We Call,” Text: Ruth Duck, 1988; Tune: “Fennville,” Robert J. Batastini, 1994.
v. 1: Out of the depths, O God, we call to you. Wounds of the past remain, affecting all we do. Facing our lives, we need your love so much. Here in this community, heal us by your touch.
v. 2: Out of the depths of fear, O God, we speak. Breaking the silences, the searing truth we seek. Safe among friends, our grief and rage we share. Here in this community, hold us in your care.
v. 3: God of the loving heart, we praise your name. Dance through our lives and loves; anoint with Spirit flame. Your light illumines each familiar face. Here in this community, meet us with your grace.
NCH 545: “There Was Jesus by the Water,” Text: Gracia Grindal, 1983, altered; Tune: “Talitha Cumi,” Rusty Edwards, 1983.
v. 1: There was Jesus by the water speaking to the pressing crowd, when, behold, there came a ruler from the synagogue, who bowed, saying “Come and heal my daughter, lay your healing hands upon her, heal her, please, that she may live.”
v. 2: As the Savior healed another, news was brought that she was dead. “Do not trouble Jesus further.” Jesus heard the news and said, “I will come and see your daughter, I will lay my hands upon her, do not fear, she yet may live.”
v. 3: Jesus went back with the ruler where they heard the mourners weep. Jesus said unto the wailers, “Why this tumult – she’s asleep. I will go unto his daughter, and will lay my hands upon her, do not laugh, only believe.”
v. 4: Jesus touched the little daughter, saying, “Little girl, arise!” And she rose to see her father’s and her mother’s stunned surprise. They then held their little daughter and they laid their hands upon her, trusting how he made her live.
NCH 382: “Come, We Who Love God’s Name,” Text: Isaac Watts, 1707, altered, refrain by Robert Lowry, 1867, altered; Tune: “Marching to Zion,” Robert Lowry, 1867.
v. 1: Come, we who love God’s name, and let our joys be known; Together God’s great love proclaim, together God’s great love proclaim, and thus surround the throne. and thus surround the throne. Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching onward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.
v. 2: Let those refuse to sing, who never knew our God; But we our thanks and praise will bring, but we our thanks and praise will bring for love so deep and broad, for love so deep and broad. Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching onward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.
v. 3: God’s grace on earth is found, the seeds of glory sown; Celestial fruits on earthly ground, celestial fruits on earthly ground from faith and hope have grown, from faith and hope have grown. Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching onward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.
v. 4: The hill of Zion yields a thousand sacred sweets before we reach the heavenly fields, before we reach the heavenly fields, or walk the golden streets, or walk the golden streets. Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching onward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.
v. 5: Then let our songs abound, and every tear be dry; We’re traveling through Emmanuel’s ground, we’re traveling through Emmanuel’s ground, to greater worlds on high, to greater worlds on high. Refrain: We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching onward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.
